The Interlude Hotel is a 5-star property built within the heritage bluestone walls of the former Pentridge Prison. The restoration converted original prison cells into suites, keeping exposed bluestone and red brick vaulted ceilings. This architecture offers a setting where guests stay inside actual cells from one of Australia's most notorious prisons.
Rooms
Room configurations combine 4 or 5 original cells into one suite, with each cell measuring 1800 x 2700 mm. The Interlude Suite includes a lounge area, bedroom, and a bathroom with a large freestanding bath positioned under the original cell window. Some units feature a glass door between the entrance cell and the bed area to reduce noise from the bar below.
Dining & Wine
On-site restaurant North&Common serves dinner and breakfast using locally sourced produce. The Olivine Wine Bar offers booths in former prison cells for intimate dining and a wine list with reasonable pricing. Guests can also book an experience called Place of Time, where they sip red wine and eat cheese in the old exercise yard while a host narrates the prison's history.
